Bitwig has announced the official release of the latest version of its music production software for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Bitwig 6 is a major update which brings automation clips, global key signature, clip aliases, upgraded automation editing, and much more.
The only software you need to realize any musical idea across every stage of creation. Linear and non-linear workflows, a flexible modular design, 140+ instruments and effects, and over 20GB (and counting) of world-class sound content
The update expands on the core DAW functions that you use every day. Available for Bitwig Studio, Producer, Essentials, and 8-Track users, it brings you fresh and faster ways to work that will feel familiar.
Changes in Bitwig Studio 6
- Automation editing in Bitwig has never been smoother. Access your curves with the new Automation Mode, edit faster with improved gestures and tools, and explore brand new spread and hold behaviors.
- With automation clips, you can work with automation the same way you do audio and note clips. Set independent looping and start times, slide the clip contents in time, stretch your automation clips, and more.
- Clip aliases are a new way to create structure in your music. Instead of duplicating a clip across a track, try dragging it as an alias. When you edit one, all clips sharing that pattern will be updated.
- Use project-wide key signature to guide your work in the piano roll and control six note-shifting devices. Change root note and scale across your project with automation, modulators, and project remote controls.
- Work on fine details with improved Expression editing. And when you need an overview, just select multiple clips to edit them together. The Detail Editor Panel will even show note and audio lanes side by side.
- Bitwig Studio 6’s looks have been improved. From tweakable grid appearance to dynamic track headers, the interface is now smoother to navigate and easier to customize your needs.
Bitwig Studio 6 is available now, free for users with an active Upgrade Plan (as of August 27th, 2025).
