Bjango has announced the release of a unique formant filter that is designed to make any sound sing. By shaping frequencies to resemble vowel sounds like “ah”, “ee”, or “oo”, Robot Vowels can transform otherwise ordinary tones into something that’s alive and organic.
Formant filters, often called vowel filters, are an expressive tool that mimics the resonant characteristics of the human vocal tract. By shaping frequencies to resemble vowel sounds like “ah”, “ee”, or “oo”, they can transform otherwise ordinary tones into something that’s alive and organic.
Other formant filters exist, but Robot Vowels is special. We recorded multiple human singers, so the frequency responses match actual recordings of people singing. Those recordings form waypoints in the large morphing area, making it possible to smoothly transition from one vowel sound to another.
Robot Vowels features three different distortion types that have been modeled on analog hardware, ranging from subtle to in-your-face.
