BOOM Library has introduced a detailed new sound library capturing the sonic identity of original WWI-era weapons. The World War I Firearms collection offers professional sound designers and post-production teams access to authentic, unprocessed recordings of historical firearms, captured with expert mic placement and delivered in high-resolution audio formats.
Unlike modern weapon libraries that prioritize cinematic flair, World War I Firearms focuses on historical realism, flexibility, and period accuracy. Every firearm was an original from the era — no replicas or stand-ins — recorded outdoors in a carefully chosen location to offer a range of natural reverb tails and spatial textures. The result is a versatile collection that reflects the sonic reality of trench warfare and early 20th-century combat.
“We set out to document these weapons exactly as they are — classic , mechanical, and unpredictable,” said Wieland Müller, Lead Sound Designer at BOOM Library. “This isn’t about stylised gunfire. It’s about creating a usable historical library that reflects the real sound of the past.”
