Cherry Audio has introduced a bigger, bolder, and better reimagining of its acclaimed 2021 flagship synthesizer and a next-generation tribute to the singular 1982 Memorymoog polyphonic analog synthesizer.
Memorymode 2 has been rearchitected using advanced analysis and design techniques, establishing a new standard for analog modeling accuracy in software instruments.
Furthermore, Cherry Audio has significantly expanded its features, firmly establishing Memorymode 2 as the definitive successor to both the original synth and Cherry Audio’s groundbreaking tribute to it.
In 2021, Cherry Audio introduced Memorymode, which earned widespread acclaim for faithfully reproducing the original hardware’s sound while eliminating the reliability and tuning issues commonly associated with it. Five years later, Memorymode 2 builds on that success, establishing itself as the definitive successor to both the original synthesizer and the previous plugin.
New in Memorymode 2
- Dual Layer architecture (v1 was just single layer), and each layer optimized and multithreaded for better CPU performance than previous releases. 16 voices each.
- New Effects: Wide Phaser (a more lush, 4-stage wide stereo phaser based on what was in Memorymode v1, for compatibility) and Rotary Speaker (same as Blue3 Organ).
- Polyphonic sequencers for each layer with Touch Animation routed to the 4X Touch modulation.
- Greatly improved analog modeling, especially in the filter; more accurate to the original hardware than before.
- Optional Emphasis Compensation button in the Filter section.
- Polyphonic Aftertouch (not in v1) and MPE.
- Multi-Voice option for Polyphonic Voice Mode.
- Drag-and-drop older v1 presets to import, plus import of LAMM SysEx and cassette WAV data patch files.
Memorymode 2 is now available from Cherry Audio and at resellers such as Plugin Boutique and AudioDeluxe for $69 USD. Owners of the original Memorymode can upgrade for $39 USD. The synth comes in VST/VST3, AU and AAX plugin formats and as standalone software for Windows and macOS. A free 30-day demo is available.
Also released is The Foundation Preset Pack for Memorymode 2, exclusively available from Cherry Audio for $9.99 USD. All proceeds from August 2026 sales of the soundset will benefit the Bob Moog Foundation in celebration of its 20th anniversary of preserving Bob Moog’s legacy through education and the Moogseum. This pack features 275 expertly crafted presets that utilize Memorymode 2’s most innovative features, including layers, polyphonic sequencers, the Touch Animator, dual arpeggiators, and the updated effects library, showcasing even more dynamic sounds for the synthesizer.
Additionally, until September 7th, customers can take advantage of Cherry Audio’s “Build Your Own Bundle” promotion. They can select the Pick 3 bundle for $99 USD (regularly $119 USD) or the Pick 6 bundle for $149 USD (regularly $169 USD).
