Loopmasters has introduced a new melodic soul and funk toolkit geared towards Hip Hop music production. The royalty free Groovella Soul Melodics by Dabro Music delivers a selection of warm pianos, dusty guitars, expressive brass and lush strings.
We tracked real instruments with a musical, minimal signal path: close mics plus room capture for natural space; ribbon mics and large-diaphragm condensers on brass and strings; DI blended with a miked tube combo into a 1×12 cabinet on bass and guitars. Sessions took place in a treated live room with wooden floors, with an iso booth for amps when needed.
Timing was kept intentionally human, with subtle swing and behind-the-beat phrasing typical of soul and boom-bap. You’ll hear ghost notes, grace-note pickups, dynamic swells, and call-and-response lines between sections. Light tape-style saturation and minimal compression gently glue the takes while keeping the transients and room tone intact.
