Fabula Audio has introduced a new virtual instrument featuring a custom drone engine built from real instruments, including a hurdy-gurdy, church organ, bagpipes, bowed strings, choir and bells. Drone Maker shapes these into slow-moving, evolving atmospheres.
Warped hurdy-gurdy and vielle held until they groan. Church organs sunk into swamp water. Bagpipes, bowed strings, choir and bells drawn out into long, dark textures.
Drone Maker is a custom drone engine built for underscore and atmospheric sound design. Pedal tones for film and game scoring, beds for ambient and dark folk, dread for horror and dungeon synth.
The plugin features granular freeze, dual LFOs, onboard reverb and delay, and a separate layer of 16 independent ambience beds. Users can also load their own sounds through the engine to build custom drones from any source material.
A selection of 54 presets is included, with two expansion packs, Nox (horror and dungeon synth) and Reliquary (sacred and ambient medieval drone), available separately for £19 GBP each.
Available in VST3 and AU plugin formats and as standalone software for Windows and macOS, Drone Maker is on sale for the launch priced of £39 GBP for a limited time (regular £49 GBP). A bundle of Drone Maker and both expansion packs is £55 GBP during the promotion (regular £65 GBP).
