Flintpope has announced that its Seltsam collection of 16 sounds that explore “STRANGE”, is now available in three formats: Kontakt, Reaktor Blocks and Ableton Simpler.

Utilising a deliberately random multi-tracking in Ableton of Komplete10 instruments and FX Flintpope made a number of samples that had a core key yet little sense of musical beauty. The wavs were then treated to Audacity’s range of FX and “Create DTMF Tone” etc. to add some random structures. Going against the grain of creating balanced sounds the aim was to get surprising individual samples that could become the germ of a new tune or kick-off an improvisation into unexpected musical areas.
The results are rhythmic, textured and dripping with atmosphere.

Kontakt Version: The samples were then further treated inside Kontakt with convolution reverbs that added another dimension. Each instrument has a user-friendly control-panel featuring reverb, envelope and EQ: thanks to BigCat Instruments for the script.

Reaktorblocks version: A big thanks to Michael Hetrick for the Stereo sample Looper that’s at the heart of this instrument.

Ableton 9.7 Simpler version: open the .alp file in the zip to reveal the sixteen presets arrayed in session view. Each instrument has 8 macros assigned to familiar parameters. This version should be compatible with Live Intro and beyond if you’ve done the 9.7 upgrade.

Seltsam is available at any price you want, including free.
