Forma Labs Audio has introduced a MIDI orchestration plugin that hosts up to 64 AU and VST3 instruments internally. Filament translates what you play on a keyboard into a fully voiced, multi-instrument arrangement in real time.
You play chords or melodies as you normally would; filament distributes, transposes, arpeggiates, and sequences those notes across your hosted instruments simultaneously.
Filament features
- 12 Keyswitches: Store 12 complete setups and switch between them instantly.
- 8 Voice Layers per Keyswitch: Each with its own routing, range, and chord detection.
- Intelligent Chord Revoicing: Smart Filter mode distributes voices dynamically.
- 64-Output Routing Matrix: Route any voice to any output with per-connection transpose.
- Phrase Arpeggiator: Build complete moving parts with per-step articulations and Euclidean rhythms.
- MIDI Clip Launcher: Drop MIDI files, edit in piano roll, trigger and reharmonize live.
- Smart Modifier: Shape dynamics per instrument, per keyswitch with 128-point CC curves.
- Articulation Trigger: Library-independent articulation switching.
- Plugin Hosting: Host up to 64 VST/AU instruments inside one DAW track.
- Deep Preset System: Orchestrations separate from libraries, fully portable.
Available in VST3 and AU plugin formats for Windows and macOS, the public beta of Filament is free. Limited spots are available and participants who provide meaningful feedback will receive a free perpetual v1.0 license (regular £149 GBP).
