Fracture Sounds has launched the second library in its collaboration with composer and artist Alexander Parsons.
Bringing together solo trumpet, bass clarinet, synths, and percussion, the sounds of Trails II resonate off different metallic surfaces to create otherworldly textures sitting at the intersection of sound design and orchestral music. The library features a rare Canna Sonora tuned percussion instrument, sampled for the first time.
Keeping with his tradition of experimentation, during a recording session for a documentary score, Alexander combined a trumpet resonating against a gong to produce something otherworldly – a sound that feels unrecognisable, yet familiar.
This became the founding principle of Trails II: exploring how resonances can transform sounds. From brass and woodwinds to analogue synths and a rare percussion instrument sampled for the first time, it’s a full toolkit of sounds capable of injecting a unique quality into your scores, crossing the disciplines of music and sound design.
