MEY Audio Engineering, a one-person Amsterdam plugin workshop run by Ronald Meij, has released a lineup of free mixing and mastering plugins for Windows and macOS.
Built upon 25 years of experience in live production and event technology, MEY Audio Engineering‘s catalog currently spans reverb, chorus, mastering compression, and balance processing.
We build audio plugins from first principles rather than presets: real room geometry, physical models and honest signal paths instead of shortcuts.
The following plugins are currently available:
- Halo 2000: Hardware-style reverb and echo engine with four reverb programmes, a preset library, and a headroom meter.
- HALLE 1280: Multichannel hall reverb built from modeled room geometry and materials with real microphone-array early reflections and a three-band late field, rather than a stored impulse response.
- MEY 640: Three-stage surround mastering compressor for classical and acoustic masters, running Glue, Density, and Peak stages in series with a coupled detector and auto-detection up to 7.1.4.
- MEY 320: Sereo dimensional chorus with a four-way mode selector, single dry/wet mix, and four preset slots.
- Unity Balancer: Mastering balance plugin for musical gain movement, stereo control, and final polish, including a Vari-Motion compressor.
The plugins are available as free downloads for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU plugins formats (Unity Balancer is macOS/VST3 only). MEY 640 also includes a standalone version.
