ShamROCK Audio has announced the release of a free telephone, megaphone, and AM radio character plugin for macOS.
Built on an emerald-and-brass Irish console design, FITZ PHONE runs audio through analog-style filtering to create three classic voice characters: the intimacy of a phone line, the authority of a bullhorn, or the nostalgic crackle of an AM wireless.
The plugin offers three selectable modes:
- Telephone: 300Hz–3.4kHz POTS-style band-limit with mid honk and gentle soft-clip.
- Megaphone: Narrow resonant mid band around 1.7kHz, driven hard for a bullhorn bark.
- AM Radio: Wider band with amplitude-modulation tremolo and dial-able static hiss.
Additional controls include Drive for pre-filter saturation, Tone for shaping the top end and resonant mid peak, Static for wireless crackle, and a Mix knob for wet/dry blending. The plugin’s DSP relies on hand-tuned band-limiting filters and real-time automation, with 4x oversampling.
FITZ PHONE is free to download in VST3, AU, and AAX formats for macOS (Windows support is coming).
