Tone Empire has introduced a new audio plugin that is modeled on the classic Langevin AM16 Class-A transformer preamp used on iconic sessions at Capitol Records.
The LAM16 faithfully recreates the circuit topology of the legendary Langevin AM16 — a Class-A, transformer-balanced, discrete transistor preamp similar to vintage Neve designs. This classic architecture delivers the tube-like “air,” musical harmonic richness, and analog weight that defined countless hit records from the 1960s and 70s.
Originally designed by John Hall and used extensively at Capitol Records and major studios worldwide, the AM16 was the secret weapon behind the open, airy sound of legendary recordings.
LAM16 features
- Class-A transformer-balanced design.
- Zener mode for extra harmonic color.
- Open, airy, musical top-end.
- Smooth, punchy transient detail.
- 96kHz neural modeling + intelligent auto-oversampling.
Regularly priced $49 USD, LAM16 for Windows and Mac (VST3, AU and AAX) is free to download until November 20th, 2025. The offer is available at the Tone Empire store and from Plugin Boutique
