MEY Audio Engineering has released a free 16-voice polysynth featuring eight sequencer tracks which each carrying a complete, independent sound sharing a set of voices, reverb, and an equalizer.
Mey IVY opens with a fixed-layout panel of eight lettered cells and matching knobs that never move between pages, so every control stays in the same place. Loading a kit brings a kick, clap, hat, bass, and lead already playing against each other, each already patterned across a sequencer where tracks can run different step counts against each other for polymeter.
A synthesiser and a sequencer that are one instrument, not two bolted together. Eight tracks, each with a complete sound of its own: four oscillators, a sub with a derived first harmonic, noise, a sampler, two filters, three envelopes, two LFOs and a twelve-slot matrix. Every step of every track can carry four notes, a velocity, a condition, a nudge in time, a roll, and up to forty-eight parameter locks. Two hundred and thirty-eight factory sounds, and a manual inside the plug-in.
Mey IVY features
- Four oscillators in two syncable pairs, each with 8 waveforms (4 analog shapes, 4 wavetables), plus phase modulation from any other oscillator, the sub, or the noise source, a per-oscillator key zone with fades, and a modeled divide-down sawtooth with its characteristic staircase grain.
- Built-in sampler with key/velocity zone mapping, slicing, looping with crossfade, and adjustable bandwidth, sitting alongside the oscillators as an equal sound source.
- Two filters (24dB LP, 12/6dB BP, 12dB HP) in parallel or serial routing with in-loop drive, three 4-stage envelopes, two LFOs, and a 12-slot matrix spanning 11 sources and 47 destinations, including the effects.
- Up to 128 steps per track across 8 independently lengthed tracks, with per-step note, velocity, length, slide, accent, and up to 48 parameter locks.
- Per-step conditions (probability, every-Nth-of-M), micro timing to 24ths of a step, and 8-rate retrigger with a decaying or building hit count.
- 128 patterns in 8 banks, live track muting, and 238 factory sounds across 19 categories, many shipping as full kits with pre-written patterns.
The first public release of Mey IVY (v0.15.0) is available as a free download for Windows and macOS in VST3, AU, and standalone formats.
