Isotonik Studios has announced that AVAL’s Max for Live device MIDIPond is free to download. The Random Midi Device uses collision physics in order to create random patterns.

It’s ready to use, just play your notes and watch the circles move and collide each others or with the boundaries until they disappear.

Each circle maintains its birth note (the one you pressed) and velocity, that will determinate its color, size and speed, and will trigger that note whenever it touches the boundaries or another circle, that will as well triggers another note, creating chords, and in general ambient and ethereal patterns. The life expectancy of these (time it take to decrease size until disappearing) it’s controllable with a slider, as well as the triggered note duration.

MIDIPond requires Ableton Live 10/11 (Suite or Standard with Max for Live installed).
