DeeJei.Tokyo has released a free zero-latency pitch correction plugin for Windows and macOS. MotTune MIDI is developed by MOTSU of the Japanese group m.o.v.e, known for many Initial D anime opening themes. Also available is the ModTune app for iPhone, which turns any song into karaoke and your voice into an instrument.
Recreating hard-tuned vocals (the robotic auto-tune effect) on stage has always meant expensive gear and a constant battle with latency. MOTSU, who has used the effect in his own live shows for years, built this with a single obsession: your voice has to come back without delay. The plugin adds zero latency. Hearing your own voice 30 milliseconds late feels like singing at a wall ten meters away — you simply cannot perform like that. That frustration is where the project started.
Just as frets once made string instruments accessible to everyone, MOTSU believes pitch correction is about to become just as widespread for singers — and he built these tools to help set that off.
MotTune MIDI features
- Zero added latency in Realtime mode (no lookahead buffer), so singers can monitor themselves without delay. A lookahead Studio mode is included for editing.
- A single Balance knob morphs between a built-in synth vocoder and hard-tune on the singer’s own voice.
- Target pitch is set by live MIDI input, so the voice can be played from a keyboard. Key/Scale mode works without MIDI.
- Mono-focused and lightweight, built for live performance. Undo/Redo included.
The MotTune MIDI plugin is free to download in VST3 and AU formats.
The MotTune app uses AI to separate vocals from the backing track of any imported song in your library (everything is processed on the device). The app reads the original singer’s “handwriting” and pulls your voice onto it — not a score of notes, but the actual pitch curve including scoops and vibrato, extracted by AI. Anything from full hard-tune to a gentle, natural correction.
Designed to be an an instrument you play, the app lets you edit the pitch curve in the editor, share it in the original “.mo2” format, and export to MIDI. A real-time voice changer is built in as well.
MotTune is available on the App Store, free to download with all features included and up to 2 songs. Premium is ¥480/month or ¥2,980/year with a 7-day free trial, or a one-time purchase at a launch price of ¥4,500 until September 27th, 2026 (regular ¥7,800). Local pricing is shown in the App Store.
