Nolvra has announced a free character plugin that puts tape, vinyl, VHS and radio behind a single AGE macro.
Most free vintage plugins cover a single medium: CHOW Tape Model is a reel to reel tape model, iZotope Vinyl is a record player, and Caelum Audio Tape Cassette 2 is a cassette deck. None of the three does VHS wobble or radio bandwidth.
RELIC’s four characters are separate processes, not one algorithm at four depths: six parameters move per character, each on its own curve, so AGE 40 on TAPE and AGE 40 on RADIO are genuinely different treatments. At AGE 0 the plugin sounds like bypass by design, so it can sit on a chain and cost nothing until you turn it up.
Relic is free to download for Windows and macOS in VST3 and AU plugin formats. Also available at Nolvra are the following paid plugins:
- Prism Talkbox ($99 USD): Put it on the vocal and sing. The carrier is already inside, the engine finds your pitch, and the harmony lands in your key with it.
- Surge riser bank ($49 USD): Find the rise, fall, or impact. Match the tempo and drag it in.
- Plunge 808 bass engine ($69 USD): Shape an 808, lock it to the kick, and export with the low end intact.
- Raw de-reverb ($49 USD): Pull the room out of any recording. Capture, select the range, and drag the dry version into your project.
