AutoFactory Audio has announced the release of a translation meter that scores a mix against commercial targets instead of just showing levels.
Featuring VU, true-peak, integrated loudness, M/S balance, and correlation in a single view, Meter Core gives users a verdict on a playback of their mix and provides eight indices regular meters don’t have (Side Air, Punch Reserve, Low Width Risk, Push Damage and more).
LUFS in range. True peak under. RMS healthy. And the mix still sounds small next to a reference — thin sides, soft punch, low end that smears on anything but your monitors. Conventional meters measure level. They don’t measure translation.
Meter Core scores the things that actually break a mix: stereo air in the sides, weight in the centre, punch held in reserve, low-end width risk, push damage. Each index is calibrated against commercial references, and the built-in Guide explains every one in plain English.
Then Track Pass watches your whole song play end to end — averages, worst cases, weak sections — and hands you one honest verdict instead of needles to stare at.
An entry to the KVR Developer Challenge 2026, Meter Core is currently available to download for macOS only. A Windows version is in development.
