Aimed strongly at bedroom producers and DJs who want a low barrier to entry, Silverdaw is simple enough to pick up quickly, but with some fairly sophisticated tools underneath once you need them.
Silverdaw is an open-source Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) for Windows, built for remixing, mashups, and sample-driven music making. It lets you build new tracks out of audio you already have: import your songs, loops, vocals, and samples, drag them onto a timeline, and arrange, trim, re-pitch, and tempo-match them into a finished mix.
Silverdaw features
- Non-destructive workflows throughout, including grid-based or manual loop slicing.
- On-device stem separation (vocals, drums, bass, other), with a Fast/Balanced/Best control and no cloud processing.
- Automatic key, tempo, and beat detection, with manual override.
- Pitch shifting and tempo matching for blending tracks in different keys.
- Saveable effects automation.
- Support for a range MIDI DJ controllers to be able to create and edit vinyl-style scratches.
- AGPL-3.0, fully open source, and runs fully locally with no accounts or data sent anywhere.
Currently at v1.3.0, Silverdaw is available on the Microsoft Store and as a portable download from GitHub. The roadmap, includes features such as VST support.
