DLP has released a free virtual instrument from Grammy-winning producer, engineer, and musician Mike Dean. A monophonic synthesizer, Smoke Mono 1 is designed to cut through everything.
From Kanye West to Travis Scott to The Weeknd, Mike has produced, mixed, and performed on some of the most influential records in hip-hop and beyond.
Dean’s List Plugins came from decades of working gear and a personal wish list of perfect plugins. Smoke Mono 1 is the first free release — Mike’s way of giving producers a real tool, no strings attached.
Smoke Mono 1 features
- Analog Modeling Engine: Virtual analog oscillators with saw, square, triangle, and sine waveforms. Sub oscillator with octave select. Real unison detune.
- Resonant Filter: Moog-style ladder filter with cutoff, resonance, and envelope amount. Keyboard tracking. Self-oscillation at high resonance.
- Bass-Preserving Distortion: Custom saturation circuit that adds grit without losing low end. From warm tape to full screaming overdrive.
- Glide + Legato: Smooth portamento with adjustable glide time. Legato mode for connected phrases. Mono voice priority: last note wins.
- Full ADSR Envelope: Snappy attack for plucks, slow bloom for pads. Filter envelope with separate depth control. Shape every note.
- Built-In Effects: Delay synced to host tempo (1/4 note default). Reverb with freeze. Chorus for width. All built in — no extra plugins needed.
The synth is available to download in VST3 and AU plugin formats for Windows and macOS.
