Leigh Pierce has announced the release of two effect plugins circuit modeled after the Paul Cochrane Timmy and Analog Man King of Tone overdrive pedals.
Tommy is largely based off of the V2 circuit with some minor tweaks from later revisions. Bass and treble are cuts starting at the fully counter-clockwise position unlike newer MXR revisions which are the opposite (fully clockwise is no cut on those pedals).
Rather than capturing a handful of fixed gain settings, Tommy simulates the actual analog circuit — drive stage, diode clipper, passive tone network, and output buffer — sample by sample, so every control behaves the way the real pedal’s electronics would at any setting in between.
Monarch of Tone is built off the most common modded version of the boutique two-in-one Bluesbreaker-derived pedal. High Gain mod on the red channel, switches on the face plate to choose clipping mode, and presence boost knobs.
Two independent overdrive channels, wired in series exactly as in the original hardware, each with its own Volume, Drive, Tone, and Presence, three clipping modes (Boost / Overdrive / Distortion), and its own bypass footswitch. The first channel (“Yellow”) is the stock circuit; the second (“Red”) carries a fixed Hi-Gain mod, so the two channels stack from a clean boost all the way to a hot, high-gain double-overdrive — the entire reason the original two-in-one design is prized.

The plugins are available as standalone software for Windows, macOS and Linux and in VST3 and AU plugin formats from Leigh’s GitHub repositories. There you will also find some tools for calculating the frequencies of notes and harmonies (Note2Freq), and converting BPM to milliseconds to help with manual delay, reverb, or compressor release timings (BPM2Tme).
