Plasmatic has released an update to its audio plugin that is designed to turn any sound into something industrial.
COGG is a free VST3/AU effects plugin that transforms your audio with a chain of metallic processing — harmonic distortion, convolution reverb built from synthetic metal plate impulse responses, and pitch layering.
Simply turn up the Grind knob and watch the cog spin faster to begin metallizing your sound. Or, if you prefer more control, adjust the other knobs to perfect and fine tune the metallic mayhem.
Version 1.1 of COGG comes with 8 different presets, each with specific uses:
- Rough: Balanced, moderate metallization that works as a solid starting point for every sound.
- Punch: Heavy low-pitched crush with a hard transient hit, built for kicks and bass.
- Chromium: Bright, resonant shimmer with deep metal reverb and an octave-up shine.
- Screamo: Pure harmonic grit with no reverb or impact, perfect for aggressive vocal distortion like Che (or the new Lucy snippet).
- Cave: Dark, reverberant wash that buries the sound in metallic resonant space.
- Rust: A faint texture that adds subtle metallic character without obvious distortion.
- Shrapnel: Maximum chaos with both pitch extremes engaged alongside heavy grind and impact.
- Meltdown: Total saturation and crushing impact with no reverb, the most extreme and distorted setting.
