TMPLT Sounds has released two analog-style drum synthesizer instruments.
Erika Bass Drum delivers a true software recreation of the legendary Erica Synths “Bass Drum” (Black Series, Eurorack).
Erika Bass Drum brings the self-oscillating bridged-T oscillator — the same circuit family found in the kicks of the TR-606, TR-808, and TR-909 — straight into your DAW. 100% real-time synthesis, no sample rack required.
Bringing the raw, analog low-end punch of the cult module, Erika Bass Drum is based on authentic circuit research. It features a dual-path signal chain, analog-style drive stage, the quirky retrigger character from the hardware, and more.
Also available is xKick 999, a dedicated algorithmic bass drum synthesizer that is heavily inspired by the legendary, punchy low-end of the Jomox Xbase 999 hardware.
Designed specifically for Techno, Trance, and modern EDM, the xKick 999 delivers bone-rattling, raw analog power directly into your DAW. Because it relies on 100% real-time DSP calculation instead of static audio files, every parameter interacts organically—allowing you to design the perfect, mix-ready kick drum from scratch.
The plugin lets you shape the core of your kick with controls for pitch, decay, attack, and noise. A built-in drive circuit features a custom asymmetrical cubic soft-clipper (DC-biased) that generates rich, even harmonics, and an internal one-pole lowpass filter smooths out the pulse and noise attack to transform a digital “click” into a fat, analog hardware smack.
xKick 999 and Erika Kick Drum Synth are available as “pay what you like” downloads in VST3 and AU formats for Windows and macOS (xKick 999 is currently macOS only, Windows coming).
