Orra Audio has just released a new serial compressor effect plugin built around a single idea: every stage of a dynamics chain deserves its own character.
Orra Press features 6 reorderable slots, each hosting one of the following 6 dynamics engines in any order or combination (duplicated allowed):
- Classic: VCA-style feedforward compressor. Zero latency. The workhorse for bus glue and transparent leveling.
- Optical: Opto-style with dual-stage program-dependent release. Smooth, musical, vocal-friendly.
- FET: Aggressive grab with input-driven engagement, tanh saturation that scales with GR, and an ALL-buttons-in mode for the chaotic British feel.
- Multiband: 4-band linear-phase FIR with draggable crossovers and per-band threshold lines directly on the spectrum view.
- Spectral: 2048-point FFT per-bin reduction with a Resonance control that targets only bins sticking up from their neighbors. The spectral ducking everyone’s talking about, built right into the chain.
- Limiter: Mastering-grade brick-wall with true-peak / ISP detection, LUFS metering with platform targets, and up to 16× oversampling.
Orra Press aims to speed up your workflow by letting you do what would normally take three or four separate plugins in the chain from a single plugin. Each slot in Orra Press picks its own sidechain source independently, including any of 36 Link channels fed by the companion Orra Link plugin, which lets you sidechain any track to any slot, bypassing host routing limitations entirely.

- Reorderable serial chain: Six slots, six engine types, duplicates allowed. Switch a slot from Classic to FET and your Classic settings are remembered when you flip back.
- Sidechain any track via Orra Link: 36 numbered Link channels usable in any DAW, even hosts that won’t route bus-to-bus sidechains natively. Per-slot SC source selection.
- Spectral Resonance control: Blend between absolute-over-threshold detection and neighbour-excess detection. Tame ringing peaks without touching broadband content.
- Linear-phase Multiband: FIR crossovers with shared group delay. Draggable crossover handles and per-band threshold lines drawn directly on the spectrum.
- Mastering Limiter: True-peak / ISP detection per ITU-R BS.1770. Full LUFS suite (momentary, short-term, integrated, LRA) with platform target overlays for EBU R128, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, Loud, and Club.
- A/B/C/D snapshots: Four independent full-plugin states. Compare four arrangements of the same chain instantly. Snapshots persist with presets.
- Smart oscilloscope: Input outline vs output fill with a red GR “bite” in between. Vertical/horizontal zoom up to 16×. The easiest way to dial attack and release by eye.
- Contextual help: Toggle the ? button and hover any control for inline guidance. Learn the plugin without leaving the plugin.
