Impact Soundworks has announced the release of a new sample library featuring a collection of five solo string instruments.
Tokyo Scoring Solo Strings captures performances from musicians within the Koichiro Muroya Strings ensemble, the same group featured in the previously released Tokyo Scoring Strings library.
The collection includes Koichiro Muroya on violin 1, violin 2, and viola, alongside cellist Masami Horisawa and contrabassist Jun Saito.
Excellent as first-chair performers, featured soloists, or to write for string quartet or quintet. Tokyo Scoring Solo Strings is the perfect companion to Tokyo Scoring Strings, but it’s just as effective and inspiring when used as a standalone library.
Tokyo Scoring Solo Strings features
- Microphone Mixes: Includes two pre-sculpted mixes (Anima Mix and Close Pair) and a “Mic Mixer” for blending four separate mic positions: Close Pair, Surround, Side, and Back.
- Articulations: A selection of all crucial playing techniques is included, such as sustains, pizzicato, staccato, staccatissimo, spiccato, tremolo, and trills (whole-tone and half-tone). It also features long and short decrescendo and sforzando articulations.
- Dynamics and Vibrato: The library contains up to five dynamics per articulation, from pp to ff, with transitions designed to be seamless.
- Legato System: Features three distinct legato types (Legato Bow, Legato Slur, Marcato Legato) and two portamento types (Lyrical and Slur). This system is powered by an in-house “Spectral Fusion System” intended to create consistent and smooth note transitions.
- Playback Modes: Offers three playback options: Standard mode for real-time playing, Zero Latency mode for sketching, and a Lookahead Mode designed for playing back grid-quantized MIDI with accurate timing and expression.
- Articulation Control: Provides a mapping system allowing any articulation to be assigned via keyswitches, MIDI CCs, velocities, key ranges, or a combination of these.
Tokyo Scoring Solo Strings for Kontakt and the free Kontakt Player is priced $249 USD. Owners of the full or essentials versions of Tokyo Scoring Strings can get a $50 USD crossgrade discount offer in their “Personalized Deals” area.
