Developer Kaito Sato has released an 8-operator FM and wavetable hybrid synthesizer instrument for Windows and macOS (VST3, AU and CLAP).
IMFMSynth puts eight operators, three filter stages, and the output all on one screen, connected by dragging arrows from one to the next rather than choosing from fixed algorithms.
Any operator can modulate any other, including itself. An operator can be a sine, noise, or a wavetable, and existing DX7 SysEx banks import directly as fully editable patches, with ratios, fixed frequencies, key scaling, rate scaling, and LFO settings all carried over.
IMFMSynth features
- 8 freely-wired FM operators with per-connection depth, phase, and self-feedback.
- Wavetable operators supporting Serum- and Vital-style WAV tables with modulatable scan position.
- Hand-drawn envelopes with unlimited points, per-segment curves, and custom sustain/loop points.
- 4 modulation slots with 6 LFO shapes, tempo sync, note divisions, and fade-in.
- 3 filter stages with key tracking, drive, character, and a peaking EQ per stage.
- A drive/chorus/delay/reverb effect rack running at the oversampled rate, plus DX7 .syx bank import.
IMFMSynth is available now for $19 USD during a limited-time beta campaign (regular $49 USD).
