Kern Audio has announced the release of the first batch of its series of audio effect plugins designed to tackle specific tasks.
each plugin does one thing at world-class level. no feature creep. no second purpose.
Available to purchase for $29 USD each, the following plugins for Windows and macOS (VST3/AU) are now available:
- Smooth: Dynamic resonance suppression that hears like you do. Find and tame harsh resonances across your mix. 40 ERB bands mapped to human perception. One knob gets you 80% there.
- Warm: Saturation done right. Tape, tube, transformer. 3 saturation circuits that actually sound different. Spectral-aware Chebyshev waveshaping with Baker ADAA.
- Wide: Psychoacoustic stereo expansion. Stereo width that works with your mix, not against it. Allpass decorrelation following human perception. Mono-compatible by design.
A community-funded project, the upcoming Push compressor and Open algorithmic reverb will complete the series.
Also available is Check, a free real-time spectral mono compatibility analyzer. It features 40 ERB bands which show exactly which frequencies collapse in mono, and bass-weighted scoring tells you if your low end survives.
