Conceptual Machines has released another update to its open-source AI-integrated DAW for recording, editing, and mixing audio and MIDI. Version 0.7.0 of MAGDA comes with various new features and improvements.
Changes in MAGDA v0.7.0
- Lua scripting for MIDI controllers. Drop a .lua file, get two-way communication with the DAW. Sandboxed Lua 5.4 runtime with a magda.* API for transport, session, tracks, the focused device, and MIDI out. Examples for Launchpad, Launchkey Mini MK4, and a foot-pedal template ship with the source.
- Preset system across every device. .mps presets capture the whole device, .vstpreset and .aupreset folders are scanned automatically, and you can save the entire track chain as one preset.
- First AI sound-design agent. Per-device AI panel on the 4OSC. Prompt for a sound, the model streams back a preset and applies it directly. More devices to follow.
- Audio-clip redesign (new waveform painting, peak cache, source BPM per clip).
- Redesigned device slots (volume slider moved next to the meter).
- Session-view groundwork for session recording in the next release.
- Multi-track selection.
- Configurable user folders (Data, Presets, Render directories anywhere on disk).
- AI-chat aliases.
- Bug fixes.
MAGDA is Free and open source under GPL v3. It is available for Windows, macOS and Linux.
