Marcel Blum has announced an update to his sample triggering software designed for instant playback of any format sound files from standard computer keyboard keys or MIDI.
Version 59 of Soundplant comes with MIDI CC support for customizable control of Soundplant knobs, infinite undo for editing convenience and A/B testing between different effect settings, a master output limiter-compressor for fine tuning dynamics processing, increased sound loading speed with improved multithreading, and other optimizations and fixes.
Soundplant is live audio performance software that turns your computer keyboard (yes, your QWERTY keyboard) into a versatile, low latency, multitrack sample trigger and playable musical instrument. It allows the assignment of sound files of any format and length onto keyboard keys (or MIDI), giving you hours of instantly-playing random access audio at your fingertips with no extra hardware needed.
Use Soundplant as a performance, presentation, or installation tool, as a drum pad, as an educational aid, to mix tracks in realtime, trigger sound effects or background tracks during a show, sketch sound designs, make beats and loops, and give new life to old sounds – all via an input device you’ve been practicing on for as long as you’ve been typing.
Free for non-commercial use, Soundplant for Windows and Mac is available to download with a 25-launch trial of the paid features, including output device selection, expanded sound file format support, output sample rates up to 384 kHz, recording, MIDI, and ‘background key input’ for global hotkey triggering.
A Single User License is priced $69 USD, and version 59 is a free upgrade for existing license holders who bought in 2023 or later ($34.50 USD upgrade for older license owners).
