Matthieu Brucher has announced version 3.0.0 of the ATK Side-Chain Compressor, a free audio effect plugin based on the Audio Toolkit and JUCE.
ATK Side-Chain Compressor is a stereo sidechain compressor plugin.
This update changes storage format and allows linked channels to be steered by a mix of power coming from each channel, each passing through its own attack-release filter. It enables more creative workflows with makeup gain specific to each channel.
The rest of the plugin works as before, with an optional Middle/Side processing as well as side-chain working either on each channel separately or in middle/side.
ATK Side-Chain Compressor features
- Two separate channels that can be linked together.
- Middle/Side processing.
- Control between peak power and RMS detection.
- Color section (color and quality).
- Dry/wet section for parallel compression.
ATK Side-Chain Compressor is available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU).

Seems to be no mention of the caveat to the installer ( notice no DLL file available) unless you actually read the EULA- that you agree to be tracked by what ever entity that I don’t recall. I didn’t agree, so I didn’t install. Oh well!
“Built with a personal JUCE license. By using this plugin, you allow ROLI to track your usage through their analytics tool.”
Splash screen and analytics have to be included with plugins developed with a Personal license, as per ROLI/JUCE terms of use.
That’s fine, but perhaps this should be highlighted by the developer in the features list if this is something new. I never used the installer on his previous offerings- so I have no idea whether this has always been the case?
A lot of folks don’t read EULA’s, so I thought I would point this out.
Thanks!
Yes indeed, thanks for pointing it out!
