MoMinstruments has introduced an update to its synthesizer app based on the DSP code of the Mutable Instruments Plaits hardware oscillator module.
Version 1.3 of Elastic OSC adds long-awaited MPE support to iOS.
Unlock expressive control and shape sounds with polyphonic aftertouch and per-note gestures.
Map Glide (X), Slide (Y), and Pressure (Z) to synthesis parameters and control them with external MPE controllers or the built-in keyboard (X and Y). As with any MPE instrument, all gestures work polyphonically, meaning each note can control parameters independently — for example different gains or timbres depending on the pressure applied to each key.
MPE support is available as a 3.99 USD/EUR/GBP in-app purchase.
Existing Elastic OSC users can play and test the included MPE presets that come with this update (by artists like Red Sky Lullaby, Nerk, and others), while editing MPE mappings is only available after purchasing the feature, allowing saving them as part of presets. A Lock button keeps the current MPE setup while loading other presets, allowing users to explore sounds without losing the preferred MPE mapping.
The update also improves BPM knob sensitivity, swaps the filter and distortion order to better reflect the actual signal path, and brings various tweaks and other improvements.
Alongside iOS and iPadOS, Elastic OSC is now also available for Android phones and tablets.
The Android version delivers the same synthesis engine and feature set as the latest iOS version (1.3), including the newly introduced MPE support for expressive polyphonic performance. With over 500 presets from sound designers like Red Sky Lullaby, Nu-Trix, SRVND, Another Machines, ToYaGa, and Nerk, you can dive straight into a huge world of sounds.
Android devices have made significant progress in audio performance, with much lower latency than before — making the platform ready for real-time musical performance.
Elastic OSC for Android is available at a special introductory price of 4.99 USD/EUR/GBP.
Furthermore, MoMinstruments has announced that Elastic OSC will be coming to desktop (VST3 and AU for Windows and macOS) in April 2026.
