MP MIDI has announced a major new software update that brings advanced integration with Reason Studios Reason to all models of its MP Controller.
Introducing a powerful new Reason Control Surface, the update expands the MP Controller’s growing ecosystem of professional DAW integrations alongside its control surfaces for Cubase, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Reaper, and Bitwig Studio. With this release, the MP Controller becomes one of the most versatile and complete Reason control surface solutions available on the market.
Unlike traditional fixed mapping controllers, the MP Controller’s new Reason control surface dynamically follows device selection and mixer track selection inside Reason, delivering immediate hands-on control over whichever instrument, audio effect, or channel is currently active including Reason native devices, Reason Rack Extensions, and third-party VST plugins.
Device Control – Reason Instruments & Third-Party Plugins
The MP Controller now provides a dedicated device control view with pre-mapped Reason instruments and audio effects, enabling instant access to core parameters without manual setup.
For third-party plugins, MP MIDI includes a dedicated mapping utility featuring an automatic mapping function, allowing users to generate mapping presets quickly and easily.
When a device is selected inside Reason, the MP Controller automatically synchronizes in real time and displays the device name and current preset/patch name and parameter names and values mapped to the MP Controller’s physical encoders
Thanks to the MP Controller’s digital encoders, parameters are controlled from their exact current values, eliminating jumps or sudden value changes when adjusting settings.
The control surface stays continuously synchronized: when the user changes device presets/patches in Reason, the MP Controller updates instantly, ensuring the displayed parameter values always match what is happening in the session.
To improve usability further, users can quickly locate mapped parameters by simply moving a control on the selected device/plugin inside Reason, and the MP Controller will blink the corresponding mapped parameter on the hardware interface.
The system supports up to 2048 parameters per device, allowing deep control even for the most complex instruments and multi-parameter effects.
In addition, mappings can be edited directly on the MP Controller, making it easy to create personalized layouts and custom control workflows without breaking creative flow.
Mixer Control – Intelligent Track Following & Fast Navigation
The dedicated mixer view offers smooth, modern mixing control with automatic synchronization to Reason’s mixer console.
- Control up to 8 tracks per page.
- Automatic sync to Reason’s mixer state.
- Instant feedback when track parameters change in Reason.
Each channel in the Mixer view includes:
- Track name display.
- Pan control on the top encoder.
- Volume control via touch faders and bottom physical encoders.
- Dedicated buttons for: Mute, Solo, Bypass FX, Channel EQ enable/disable.
Navigation is fast and intuitive. Users can scroll through the mixer in banks of 8 tracks (next/previous), or jump directly by selecting a specific mixer page.
Most importantly, the MP Controller eliminates one of the most common frustrations with hardware mixers. When a track is selected in Reason, it is automatically selected on the MP Controller so the control surface always follows the session, without needing the user to search for the correct channel manually.
Reason Channel Strip – Console-Style Control
For users who want the experience of working with a real analog console, the channel strip view delivers focused control over the selected mixer channel.
When a track is selected in Reason, the MP Controller instantly syncs to the full channel strip, enabling hands-on control over Level and pan, EQ, Compression, Return FX and all additional channel strip parameters available within Reason
This provides a clear, tactile, and highly musical workflow ideal for mixing, sound shaping, and fast decision-making.
A New Standard for Reason Control
With this release, MP MIDI delivers what is arguably one of the most comprehensive and modern controller solutions available for Reason today.
Additionally, the Reason control surface can be used in parallel with the MP Controller’s powerful MPH Plugin Control System, giving users the flexibility to control plugins either through the dedicated Reason control surface integration or the MPH plugin control system.
This combination makes the MP Controller a uniquely complete ecosystem for Reason producers and professional studios, offering deep integration, intelligent session awareness, and a seamless hardware experience.
