Orra Audio has announced the release an update to its parametric EQ effect plugin for Windows and macOS, alongside a permanent price reduction to $49 USD.
A free update for all existing owners, version 1.2.1 of Orra EQ comes with per-band sidechain, oversampling, Piano View, and Zones View.
Per-band sidechain for Dynamic EQ
Every Dynamic EQ band now carries its own independent sidechain selector. Engineers can choose Off (classic self-detection), External (host sidechain bus), or any of 36 Orra Link channels. Each band’s level detector follows its own source independently. Duck the mud band from a bass DI, the boxy band from a snare, and the harsh band from a lead vocal simultaneously, off three different sources. Zero added latency.
Orra Link, the companion sidechain sender plugin, is free and included in the Orra EQ v1.2.1 installer. It lets you sidechain to any track in your session.
Oversampling: Off / 2x / 4x
A new Oversampling control in the header reduces aliasing artifacts on every saturationflavoured band: Orra Tube, Tape, Models, and Dynamic Saturation.
- Off: Native sample rate. Lowest CPU. Suitable for tracking and lighter drive amounts.
- 2x: Doubles the internal sample rate during saturation. Cleaner highs on hot drive.
- 4x: Highest fidelity. For mastering or sources with significant high-frequency content.
Piano View
A vertical scrollable keyboard spanning all 88 standard piano keys plus extended octaves, covering the full 20Hz to 20kHz range. The key matching the selected band’s frequency glows green when perfectly in tune, fading to yellow as the band moves off-pitch. Designed for tuning drums, finding harmonic resonances, and snapping bands to musical pitches.
Zones View
A frequency strip displaying the eight regions every mix engineer thinks about: SUB, BASS, MUD, BOXY, BODY, HARSH, SIBILANCE, and AIR. A gold indicator line tracks the selected band’s position in real time.
Auto-opening settings panels
Adding or selecting a band now automatically opens the correct settings panel for that band’s processing mode. The settings slot is permanent. It no longer collapses when panels open or close, keeping the main EQ display at a constant width throughout a session.
New Pricing Model
Orra EQ is now $49 USD, permanently. It was previously $79 USD.
