Osterhouse Sounds has introduced a new Kontakt instrument library which brings a palette of dark hues for modern string writing.
Penumbra Strings features 12 complementary articulations recorded on 5 solo instruments, and arranged into a grid of tiles for easy mixing and matching.
You can adjust sample start points, loop ranges, or reversing playback right in the canvas, and a panel of controls along the bottom allows you to shape the sound even more. A preset browser covers this bottom panel, and each of its presets reconfigures the entire instrument, selecting articulations above and setting all the controls below.
The presets are warped, heavily processed, and deliberately non-realistic. Penumbra Strings is built for hybrid scoring or any context where you want string textures that don’t sound like a traditional section.
Available for the full version of Kontakt 7.10.9 or later, Penumbra Strings is on sale for the intro price of $48.30 USD until March 18th, 2026 (regular $69 USD).
The offer is available at Loot Audio, Pulse Audio, and from the Osterhouse Sounds store.
