Parish Audio has released a granular transformation effect that pulls incoming audio apart into tiny fragments, letting them drift, pulse, scatter, reverse, and recombine into new textures.
Aethon can turn a simple synth into a slowly evolving atmosphere, dissolve a sustained chord into a cloud of shimmering grains, scatter a vocal into jittery fragments across the stereo field, or lock a melodic line into a rhythmic pulse synced to the session tempo. At its center is a single Transform control for moving from subtle motion around the original sound to full sonic disintegration.
Small amounts of drift and spread add gentle movement and dimension without disturbing the source’s character, while longer grains build smooth, floating atmospheric layers behind it. Pushed further, shorter tempo-synced grains create crisp rhythmic pulses, Jitter and Reverse scatter fragments through time, and rising Density blurs individual grains into thick clouds that Feedback continuously reshapes.
Aethon features
- Real-time granular processing with free-running or tempo-synced grain timing.
- Grain Engine controls covering Size, Rate, Density, Position, Jitter, Drift, Reverse, Spread, Width, and Feedback.
- Continuously recording capture buffer with Freeze for sustained transformation of a single moment.
- Finishing FX section with high- and low-pass filtering plus Color, Motion, Diffuse, Space, Width, Mix, and Output.
- Factory presets ranging from subtle atmospheric movement to grain clouds, synced pulses, and reversed textures.
- Resizable interface with real-time granular visualization.
Available for Windows and macOS (VST3/AU), Aethon is on sale for the intro price of $34.97 USD through September 14th, 2026 (regular $69.95 USD). A free 7-day trial version is available to try the plugin.
