Patchpool has announced the release of a new soundset for u-he’s flagship synthesizer instrument Zebra 3, currently in public beta.
A close encounter with fascinating forms of audio synthesis, 3RD KIND contains a diverse collection of somewhat familiar sounds and unknown sonic territory which still had to be explored.
The soundset contains a total of 161 presets, including drones and leads, pads and chords, physical modeled sounds, soundscapes and fx, sequences, and more.
The modal filters and exciters introduced in Zebra 3 were used extensively to create physically modelled instruments and textures, hundreds of single cycle waveforms were created or imported into the oscillators in order to build interesting wavetables, the additive sound engine with its vast sonic possibilities was deeply explored and the oscillator effects play a prominent role in shaping or totally transforming the waveforms.
From swirling wavetable sounds to futuristic soundscapes, from deep bass sequences with juicy filter action to fascinating experimental sounds, from warm pads and dark drones to glistening digital textures, from groovy pitch and drum sequences – also in odd time signatures – to expressive and sometimes dystopian lead sounds, 3RD KIND will give many composers of cinematic soundtracks and electronic music in general a wide palette of inspiring sonic material to play with.
The soundset is available to purchase for €38 EUR / $44 USD.
