Modartt has released a significant update to its physically-modeled virtual piano and instrument suite which generates its sound in real-time.
At the core of Pianoteq 9 is an enhanced soundboard model, which improves the stereo and spatial perception of the instruments to bring the authentic experience of playing a world-class concert grand.
Each note you play creates a rich, vibrant swirl, making the sound feel organic and evolving, like ripples shimmering at the surface of a lake. Every grand piano in the collection benefits from this update and has been meticulously revoiced, bringing you the authentic experience of playing a world-class concert grand.
The update also features a new Italian Triple Harp with a sound which carries a characterful and delicate timbre, perfect for basso continuo. Additionally, The Concert and Celtic harps now benefit from improved transients.
Modartt has also updated the MKII and Reeds of the Electric Pianos pack, elevating dynamic response and adding extra grit in the fortissimo range, offering greater expressivity with more detail in every note. Additionally, new “Sombre” presets have been added for all grand pianos, offering a darker, more cinematic character, while historical pianos now include “Felt” presets for a softer touch.
New interface features includes a revamped microphones panel in which users can place up to 8 simultaneous microphones in 3D space anywhere around the instrument, and a streamlined mixing panel offers intuitive controls for stereo and multi-channel outputs.
Pianoteq 9 is available for Windows, Mac and Linux (VST3, AU, AAX and standalone). Pianoteq 9 Stage including 2 Instrument Packs is $139 USD. Pianoteq 9 Standard with piano model tweaking, advanced tuning, mixing and moving of microphones, external reverb impulses, and instrument morphing and layering is $269 USD (incl. 3 Instrument Packs), and Pianoteq 9 Pro which adds per note editing of physical parameters, thousands of editable overtones, and support up to 192kHz audio is $399 USD (incl. 4 Instrument Packs).
