Pulsar Audio has released a new audio classic VCA compressor effect plugin built for engineers who need more than just a re-creation. IPA 25 lets users get musical compression behavior fast, and shape dynamics with surgical precision.
Not just another hardware re-creation – IPA 25 starts with a structurally accurate model of the original VCA topology, then extends it with tools the hardware never had. The result is a compressor that doesn’t just measure like the original – it behaves like it in a mix.
IPA 25 features
- 3 fully modeled VCA circuits with harmonics inside the VCA stage, interacting with the detector itself:
- Original (VCA) – tight, transparent control.
- V-Mu (Mu-inspired) – smoother transients, low-mid bloom.
- N-Diode (Harmonic Edge) – asymmetrical clipping for grit and forward presence.
- Extensive sidechain control: Punch modes, a 4-band EQ, and stereo Link/Shape filters let you decide what the compressor “hears.” That means snares and vocals can steer compression without the subs dragging your mix down.
- Integrated clipper/limiter: Peak shaping and maximization inside the same workflow – pre-comp, pre-mix, or post-mix routing.
- Built for real sessions: Zero-latency tracking mode, oversampling for mastering, and CPU efficiency managed at the behavior level, not brute force.
Available for Windows and Mac (VST/VST3, AU and AAX), IPA 25 is on sale for the intro price of $99 USD / 99 EUR for a limited time (regular 149 USD/EUR).
