Quantastical Sound has announced an update to its software synthesizer instrument for Windows and macOS (VST3, AU, AAX and standalone).
Version 2.5 of STRÄNG brings a new look with skins, sympathetic resonance, and more.
It started with one oscillator and a year of trying to make something more organic than a traditional subtractive synth. What got me there was running convolution in real time inside each voice. That gave the sound a body, part of the sound itself instead of a sample being triggered.
The oscillator has company now, a shadow layer, a sub, a string model and SPARKLE. I added components to get me closer to the sound I heard in my head, and all of them feed that same body. The Corridor reverb engine is built in. Corridor is coming out on its own soon.
Changes in STRÄNG v2.5
- Skins: Change the whole look, the background, the knobs, the frames and the light. Cycle skins with B right in the plugin. Your pick is remembered.
- Sympathy: Held notes ring inside every new note’s body. Its own section with BLEND, DECAY and TONE.
- 4 new envelopes: An A/B toggle adds four freely assignable envelopes with twelve destinations, including FOLD and TWIST.
- S&H patterns: Thirteen fixed sequences for the sample-and-hold step, locked to the bar or fanned across a chord.
- Preset packs: Export a single preset, or build a shareable pack with a name, author and cover.
- 37 new presets: The factory library grows to 341, and everything new sits in its own NEW category in the browser.
