Expressive music technology company ROLI is teaming up with Yamaha to unveil a first-of-its-kind collaboration at the Yamaha Music London flagship store in Soho next week: the Airwave x Montage M.
For the first time ever, musicians will be able to get hands-on (and off) with ROLI’s revolutionary, AI-powered Airwave system using a third-party keyboard – and which better to be first than Yamaha’s flagship Montage M synthesizer.
Join ROLI and Yamaha on Monday November 17th at 1:00pm for a live demo and workshop led by Dom Sigala. Guests will be the first to explore the new, ultra-expressive performance possibilities that the partnership will bring to life.
ROLI’s Airwave redefines expressive performance by tracking every movement of your hands above your keyboard in remarkable detail. With Airwave, a simple gesture can trigger crescendos, morph timbres, or sculpt evolving textures – opening new expressive frontiers for keyboardists, producers, and live performers alike.
Yamaha’s Montage M is already one of the world’s most expressive keyboards – powered by three advanced synth engines, premium keybeds and a deep set of performance controls. Now, combined with ROLI’s Airwave, creators can go beyond the keys and control sound through movement – adding six new dimensions of expression by simply playing the air above the instrument.
World-class sound designers Dom Sigalas and Marcus Levy-Chance have created 16 all-new, Airwave-specific presets for the Montage M, each showcasing the full expressive potential of the powerful pairing, including:
- CS80 Conductor – a Vangelis-inspired synthetic symphony
- Orchestral Voyage – a hybrid of traditional and futuristic textures
- Horror Box – a cinematic evolution of the classic theremin sound
- EP Majestic – transforms from an electric piano into bold, brassy arpeggios
- 3D Analogue Bass – squelchy, saturated and irresistibly dynamic
You can watch the full demo video on ROLI’s YouTube channel.
Even better, from November 17th, visitors can experience the Airwave x Montage M pairing first-hand at Yamaha Music London, 152-160 Wardour Street, Soho, W1F 8YA – including all the exclusive new sounds.
