Independent developer Ryan Robinson has announced the release of a Mac and iOS app that streams system audio from a Mac directly to an iPhone or iPad over a local wi-fi network.
Designed for music producers and engineers who need to quickly reference how a mix sounds on consumer phone speakers, Mix Stream eliminates the friction of bouncing a file, AirDropping it, and locating it in the Files app.
With Mix Stream running, the producer can hit play in their DAW and hear the result on their phone in real time.
The app consists of a Mac menu bar utility and an iOS receiver. After a one-time pairing, trusted devices reconnect automatically. Multiple devices can be connected simultaneously and the streaming destination can be switched dynamically.
Mix Stream is available now on the iOS App Store, on sale for the intro price of $4.99 USD for the next two weeks (regular $8.99 USD). The Mac companion app is included at no additional charge via the Mac App Store.
