Sabol Hill has introduced a new audio plugin which features a “digital electricity engine” designed to bridge the gap between the analog and digital experience of mixing music.
A combination of a stereo animator, EQ, and saturator, Lacuna features Current, a dual-mono stochastic spectral drift.
Translation: a constant evolution that’s different on Left versus Right, imparting movement, width and depth that brings your source to life in a way never before heard in the digital realm. It never nulls with itself, but also doesn’t noticeably change the character of your source – it just gives it its own space in your mix. CURRENT is controllable per-band.
Lacuna features
- Pre & Post Filters: Separate input and output, high and low pass filters to better shape the signal along the way.
- Equalizer: 4-Band EQ for shaping the source, including solo modes to fine-tune frequency boundaries, Current, Saturation, Drift and Lean on each band.
- Current: a unique per-band motion system that makes the spectrum subtly evolve over time—especially in stereo—imparting width, depth, and life. So long as Current is engaged, the plugin will never null with itself.
- Saturation: World class physics-based saturation technology with Tape, Tube, and Transformer modes that all behave as real as their hardware counterparts.
- Drift: When activated on any or all EQ bands, Drift improves the perception of width and separation within that specific band.
- Lean: When activated on any or all EQ bands, Lean enhances stereo separation, placing the source in a slightly different space without sounding panned.
- Character Presets: Three, out of the box, high-level tonal personalities – Infra / Terra / Supra – that can be used (or bypassed) to quickly add character with under-the-hood EQ curves.
Available for Windows and macOS, Lacuna is on sale for the launch price of $109 USD until June 5th, 2026 (regular $199 USD).
