Sample Remix Contest: Win $1,000 in prizes from Plugin Boutique, Loopmasters & Splice

16

I am very excited to announce a new music production contest at Rekkerd!

This time we’re collaborating with Splice Sounds, the subscription based service that offers access to over 1 million samples and synth presets. Their library features exclusive artist packs, as well as a huge collection of sounds from partner labels.

Rekkerd Sample Remix Contest

For this contest I have put together a free “Splice Repack”, featuring a selection of 75 samples from one of my favorite labels, Loopmasters.

The included sounds are taken from Chill Trap and Future RnB by Capsun, Future Bass Generation, Organic Future Hip Hop, Deep Trap, and Rolling Drums by Breakage. I reckon the download offers a nice mix of bass music type flavors.

To enter the contest you need to create a track using only the samples from the repack, which comprises a variety of drum one shots, synth sounds, bass, chords, and more.

Chop up the samples, process them with your favorite VST effects, turn them inside out… it’s all good as long as you don’t use any other source material than the sounds from the contest repack.

If you are new to Splice Sounds, you should sign up first and then get the “100 monthly sample credits” plan with promo code REKKERD17 at your Splice Sounds settings page.

This will provide you with 1 month free access so you can download the 0-credit contest pack. You are free to use the 100 download credits to explore the Splice library, and the subscription can be cancelled at any time so you will not get charged for the next month.

Once your all set, go ahead and pick up the contest repack below and get creative!

Just tried downloading the pack, had to go through the registering/signing up, but this proofed to be cumbersome. After logging in when pressing the download button, I’m taken to a certain vst plugin page! No sounds to be found. After spending 15 minutes on this I’ve decided to delete my splice account.

Shame, always fun to try my hand at some rekkerd.org samples. Perhaps there is still some morning grit in my eyes, and you folks can direct me to the correct dl page?

It is a little confusing. After signing up with Splice you have to also start the Sounds part, by clicking on the reddish intro button. That will ask you to set up your subscription. Enter the code, above. You also need to provide credit card or paypal info. I’m assuming I can cancel before a monthly fee will be due. Only then will the link, above, actually take you to the “repack” of samples. To download them you also need to download and install the Splice desktop application, which does the downloading for you (I found I had to change… Read more »

Quite a few issues with this website, including forgetting that you have logged in already, but the credit card requirement stopped me. Sorry!

This sounds fun, I will join :) , no problems with splice here.

I have a question regarding the rules :
“…you may process and manipulate sounds any way you like.”
So, can I load the samples(or little sections of them) as wavetables, and use as oscillators in a synth?
The resulting sounds will be unrecognizable from the original sources (altough they were made entirely with them), no problem with that?

Promo code seems to be invalid. I couldn’t use it when I try to start trial plan.

How would you prefer we submit our finished tracks: attach a file (mp3 or wav?) or a link to a dropbox or link to soundcloud?
