SampleScience has announced the release of a new virtual instrument featuring the sounds of a beautifully intimate upright piano built for quiet inspiration and emotional storytelling.
Warm, soft, and gently imperfect, Cozy Piano aims to bring the comforting feel of a real home recording into your tracks, with a natural space that supports delicate melodies, expressive chords, and subtle textures.
Whether you are writing late at night, sketching a cinematic cue, or creating understated underscore, Cozy Piano delivers a lofi tone that sits effortlessly in a mix and stays out of the way of your ideas.
Captured in Thuir, France during a late-night session on March 17, 2025, Cozy Piano is a multi-sampled Remeau Upright piano recorded in a spacious living room, positioned near a staircase with plenty of breathing room behind it for a more open and natural resonance. The instrument was recorded with a Tascam FR-AV2 and a pair of Rode NT5 microphones in an XY stereo configuration, preserving a realistic stereo image, intimate detail, and a subtle, lived-in ambience that feels instantly musical.
Cozy Piano is a “pay what you like” download (including free). It is available as a plugin (VST/VST3 and AU), as well as various sampler formats, including Kontakt (full), Decent Sampler, Soundbox, ReFill, and sfz.
