Sentinel AV has introduced a new distortion effect plugin that is designed to be played like an instrument. Folda allows users to build four distinct distortion states and morph between them in real time.
The plugin was co-developed with UK drum and bass producer Bladerunner, who originated the morphing distortion concept.
Drag a single point on a 2D GRID to smoothly morph between 4 independent parameter sets — each with its own mix of 34 algorithms, its own filter, and its own modulation routing. An advanced modulation engine and real-time OpenGL visualization round out a plugin designed for producers, sound designers, and mixing engineers who want to explore regions of distortion space instead of picking from a list.
Folda features
- 4-GROUP spatial morphing with per-sample Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW).
- 34 distortion algorithms across 6 categories (wavefold, clip, saturate, overdrive, fuzz, digital), unity-gain calibrated.
- Advanced modulation engine: 4 LFOs, Perlin/Simplex/fBm noise, envelope follower, ADHSR, MIDI note modulators — up to 8 sources per parameter.
- Real-time audio-reactive OpenGL visualization with vectorscope and oscilloscope modes.
- Up to 16× oversampling with FIR Equiripple filters.
- Per-group independent filters with pre/post stage selection.
- Mid-Side processing with stereo generation.
- Global 3-band parametric EQ and auto-gain compensation.
- Three window modes: portrait, landscape, square — all resizable.
- Three factory presets shipping at launch, all fully editable.
- Zero-allocation audio thread with lock-free modulation engine.
Available for Windows and macOS (VST3/AU), Folda is on sale for the intro price of $67 USD until May 2nd, 2026 (regular $99 USD). A working in-browser demo at the Sentinal AV website lets producers try Folda’s GRID morphing system directly in their browser – real-time audio, no download.
