Solid State Logic has announced introduced a new algorithmic reverb plugin designed to emulate the physical characteristics of classic spring reverb hardware.
The latest addition to the SSL ‘Verb’ collection, SpringVerb provides users with extensive control over parameters beyond what is typically available in hardware spring units, enabling the classic metallic, bouncy texture of spring reverb to be shaped for modern production contexts.
SpringVerb imparts the unmistakable vibe of classic spring reverb into your productions, combining authentic vintage hardware character with the flexibility of modern SSL control. Carefully modelled on the most legendary spring tanks ever built, SpringVerb embodies the authentic tone and texture behind countless classic recordings across rock, pop, electronic music, reggae/dub, and more. It is perfectly suited for guitars, snares, vocals, keys, and synths.
SpringVerb is a welcome addition to the Verb family of plug-ins: All three plug-ins deliver their own distinct sonic textures: spring for retro bounce, plate for smooth studio polish, and gated for dramatic punch. As a collection, they give producers versatile tools to shape mood, space, and impact across any style of music.
SpringVerb features
- 3 switchable spring types:
- Type A: Emulates the spring tank found in a recognized tape delay unit.
- Type B: Modeled after a classic rack mount spring reverb unit.
- Type C: A tank chosen for its association with Dub and Reggae productions.
- Interactive spring tank: Allows smooth adjustment between single-, double-, and triple-spring configurations, influencing the density and complexity of the reverb decay.
- Boing button: Provides a momentary trigger that excites the springs for sound design applications.
- Spring tension control: Adjusts the modeled tension of the springs, affecting the speed of sound propagation and the perceived “twanginess” or individual echo bounce.
- Modern DAW integration: Includes tempo-sync pre-delay, Damping controls for frequency shaping, and an internal Drive control for saturation.
- Deeper utilities: Features Freeze functionality for infinite reverb tails and a Ducking control which can be triggered externally via a sidechain signal.
- Stereo width: Control to collapse the stereo image to mono for authentic vintage sounds, or expand it beyond 100%.
SpringVerb for Windows and Mac (VST/VST3, AU and AAX) is available to purchase at Plugin Boutique, AudioDeluxe and from the SSL store for the intro price of $29 USD (regular $49 USD). The offer expires December 22nd, 2025.
