sonicLAB has announced a complete overhaul of its advanced 3D sound design tool that gives users the principal dynamics of their universe.
Pushing the limits of real time audio, version 2 of Creation drives both multi-core CPU threads and GPU compute shaders, for an unparalleled real-time performance.
The user gains the architect’s role by creating dialogues in a 3D simulation scene based on gravitational interaction. A force which is responsible of the macro-formal evolution of our universe.
Creation calculates the gravitational interaction between up to 999 objects and 5 masses and renders the cumulative sound from this dynamically evolving space data.
We can bend the physics of the nature, change the constants in the gravitational force formula and therefore the relation of the masses. We can even introduce a negative force, rather than only a positive one. Each object itself represents an oscillator with a rich sound synthesis engine and unique modulation capabilities.
Changes in Creation v2
- Multi Core threading + GPU assistance.
- Custom audio voice threads. No more limited with 255 max voices on Unity.
- 1000 simultaneous sounding objects on a MacBook Pro M4 is easy. Up to 400 simultaneous objects on Ryzen 3.
- Dynamic voice allocation: voices follow the most audible objects in the swarm, so scenes can grow far beyond the voice count without losing the sounds that matter.
- True anti-aliased wavetable oscillator — an 11-level band-limited mip pyramid, built by harmonic analysis at load, keeps every note free of aliasing across the entire pitch range.
- Cubic (Catmull-Rom) interpolation throughout the wavetable oscillator and the granular engine — greater clarity and harmonic detail in the top octaves, most audible on sustained low tones with bright tables.
- Band-limited granular transposition — a four-level mip pyramid keeps upward pitch-shifted grains clean, so extreme transpositions stay musical.
- Reworked distance model — object distance and stereo width are now independent controls, for a far more convincing sense of depth.
- Updated resonant filter, with automatic loudness compensation as the band narrows.
- 32-bit float, 48Khz stereo WAV export.
- 3rd-order Ambisonic export — 16 channels wav, AmbiX format.
- Creation V2 addresses up to 9999 objects. The new Non-realtime disk recording captures audio and video in full detail, sample-locked, however long each frame takes to render.
- BEAM button for killing all object instances.
- CreationRemote updated to match.
- Windows version now uses the Documents/sonicPlanet directory as its work folder.
- The manual has been updated reflecting these many changes and installation instructions.
Creation v2 for Windows and macOS is on sale for £95 until September 2nd, 2026 (regular £115 GBP). Existing users of Creation v1.4 can upgrade to v2 for £19 GBP.
