Splice has announced Spitfire Audio’s release of four new Originals libraries, alongside the full-fidelity upgrade of 17 existing Originals titles.
The new libraries are available as part of the Splice INSTRUMENT plugin with thousands of world-class instruments from Splice and Spitfire Audio, with 20+ libraries are immediately playable for Splice INSTRUMENT subscribers, as well as perpetual purchases from Spitfire Audio.
Recorded at AIR Studios’ Lyndhurst Hall and Spitfire Studios, and performed by hand-picked players, the new titles extend the popular Originals range into territory it hasn’t explored before – from delicate, breath-textured brass and woodwinds to a virtuosic solo cello and an otherworldly instrument built from chromatically tuned glass rods.
Like every Originals library before them, these are real instruments in world class recording studios, offering the same commitment to sound that underpins the flagship catalogue, in a form that’s immediately usable and expressive from the first note.
The following new libraries are now available:
- Originals Emotional Cello: Created in collaboration with London-based cellist Reinoud Ford, Emotional Cello captures the full expressive range of the solo cello, from tender lyricism to visceral dread. Eleven techniques span delicate Flautando to experimental Circular bowing and No Rosin textures, across three bespoke mic signals – Close, Room, and an analogue-treated Vintage signal – for an upfront, characterful voice.
- Originals Intimate Brass: Delicately recorded in Lyndhurst Hall at AIR Studios, Intimate Brass is built for restraint, not power. A custom quartet of Tuba, Euphonium, Tenor Trombone, and Flugelhorn feathers in and out of warm, subtle articulations, capturing gentle swells and textures that make the listener lean in. Three signals (Close, Mix, Vintage) let you dial in the perfect tone. Pair with Originals Intimate Woodwinds and Intimate Strings for a complete intimate orchestral section.
- Originals Intimate Woodwinds: Intimate Woodwinds is a curated ensemble of Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Clarinet, Alto Flute, and Flute, also captured at Lyndhurst Hall, AIR Studios. From gentle pastoral underscore to fragile, barely-there atmospheres – these gentle whispers are perfect for scoring emotive moments on screen. Recorded in the same hall as Intimate Brass and Intimate Strings, the three libraries are built to sit together.
- Originals Crystal Keys: The titanium euphone is a contemporary instrument made up of chromatically tuned glass rods, played by rubbing them with wet fingertips. The result is otherworldly. Crystal Keys captures both the raw acoustic instrument and a series of Warps – processed sounds that reshape it from angelic shimmer to horror-film dread – across nine presets and six bespoke signals. Previously available only with Kontakt Full as Titanium Euphone, Crystal Keys now runs natively in the INSTRUMENT plugin. Instant character for horror, sci-fi, ambient and screen work.
Alongside these new titles, 17 existing Originals libraries have been relaunched at full fidelity on Splice INSTRUMENT. Every library now features full mic signals, complete preset lists, and Spitfire’s redesigned interface, with refreshed artwork and a mixer for blending close, room, and Vintage mic signals. The upgrade arrives at no extra cost for existing owners and deepens the INSTRUMENT catalogue of pro-grade virtual instruments.
The new Originals libraries are available now as perpetual purchases from the Spitfire Audio store for £29 GBP/$29 USD/€29 EUR each. For a limited time only, customers can purchase 5 Originals titles for the price of 4.
The range of 20+ Originals libraries is also available as part of the Splice INSTRUMENT subscription at $12.99 USD/month. Existing owners of Spitfire Audio Originals libraries can access the full-fidelity versions in the new player at no extra cost.
