Stemwire has released a new compressor effect plugin for macOS and Windows. Levelproof Compressor measures how much loudness the compression cost and gives exactly that much back.
Half a decibel is enough to settle an A/B before the ear gets to the tone. Compression takes level away, makeup gain puts back some approximate amount, and most of the dialling in then happens at a level you guessed at. Levelproof Compressor measures the difference in LUFS and applies it while you work.
Each of the 4 models in Levelproof Compressor (Classic, Bus, Butter and Punch) arrive at the same loudness, so switching mid-listen allows users to compare the compressor’s behavior rather than the level.
Available in VST3 and AU plugin formats, Levelproof Compressor is priced $29 USD. A free demo version is available to try the plugin.
Also available are the free Subkeeper Saturator and Zero Sweep Filter plugins.
