StrayCurrent Software has released an update to its Max for Live chord generator and arranger plugin for Ableton Live that features real-time MIDI clip syncing, text-based chord input, progression generation, intelligent chord suggestions and advanced rhythm features.
Version 1.3 of Harmonybeam adds a full rhythm pattern editor, per-chord gestures for strums and arpeggios, a resizable popout window, swing controls, and extensive workflow improvements.
A chord progression plugin for Ableton Live, designed for convenience and exploration. Create chord progressions through lightning-fast workflows, discover intelligent suggestions, automatically sync to MIDI clips, and hear everything in context instantly.
Changes in Harmonybeam v1.3
- New: Full editor for Rhythm presets. You can now create presets from scratch or edit existing factory presets and save them. Chord parts can be placed individually or together on three separate lanes, enabling advanced multilayered patterns, with separate velocity accents. Also includes randomization features.
- New: Chord gestures. You can now create organic attack envelopes, alternating strums, randomized round-robin plucks, or even elaborate arpeggios with custom-ordered notes. In combination with the pattern editor, this now allows for very complex sequences. Gestures can be applied to one or several chords at once, are retained by shape-locking, and can be copied & pasted. Also includes preset and MIDI keyswitch support.
- New: External window popout: You can now pop out Harmonybeam into an external floating window that can be freely scaled, and it can also be horizontally extended to lengthen the visible strip of chord blocks.
- Additional minor new features include a new Swing slider in the Rhythm menu, more options for splitting bass notes to a different track, as well as additional customizations and fixes.
A free update for existing users, Harmonybeam is priced $24 USD.
