SonicModeler has announced a new software synthesizer that takes a rather different approach compared to most instruments currently available on the market.
Instead of focusing primarily on emulating vintage hardware or conventional oscillator structures, Syntropy was designed around mathematical and DSP-oriented sound generation, with a strong emphasis on sound quality, expressive sound design, and sonic exploration.
Syntropy is a modern VST synthesizer and sound design tool that generates sound through mathematical modeling, offering virtually unlimited possibilities for sound creation and experimentation. It combines precision-driven synthesis with a wide, expressive sonic range, from clean, pristine tones to complex evolving textures.

- Mathematical Sound Engine: Generates audio using mathematical formulas instead of traditional oscillators, unlocking unique timbres and near-infinite sound design possibilities, with x64-bit double-precision processing throughout the sound engine. Alongside standard mathematical functions, Syntropy also uses a wide range of its own custom functions for sound synthesis to extend sound creation possibilities.
- Wide Preset Library: More than 500 sounds covering basses, leads, pads, and FX give immediate musical results without forcing every user into deep editing first.
- Precision and Sound Quality: High internal resolution and clean DSP design deliver pristine, aliasing-free sound, even in dense and highly animated patches. With built-in oversampling up to x128 and FIR processing, Syntropy can produce richly analog-like audio while preserving a very clean, polished output.
- Expressive Modulation: Supports MPE, poly pressure, pitch per note, and microtuning so sound design can move naturally into expressive performance, and includes a sound bank prepared for immediate playing with ROLI Seaboard.
